Evolve ‘Big Alpha’ Launches Oct. 30 on Xbox One, Oct. 31 on PS4

October 9, 2014 by Sara

The unique four-vs-one shooter Evolve will undergo a closed public test later this month in a super-exclusive Evolve ‘Big Alpha’ test. The Evolve ‘Big Alpha’ will only be available on Xbox One at first, and getting in requires you to apply for entry using a special code.

Fortunately, we have the code you need to get into the Evolve ‘Big Alpha’ below.

Evolve’s ‘Big Alpha’ test will be available worldwide first on Xbox One, though the wait for PlayStation 4 owners isn’t all that long. The timed exclusive is similar to how Bungie and Activision launched the Destiny beta first on PS4 before bringing it to Xbox One. But the Evolve ‘Big Alpha’ is only platform-exclusive for 24 hours.

The Evolve Alpha will launch on Xbox One on Oct. 30 and then launch on PS4 on Oct. 31 (Halloween). It will run until Nov. 2. A Windows PC version of the Evolve ‘Big Alpha’ will also be available Oct. 31.

Getting access to the Xbox One alpha requires you to register for “a chance to participate.” You can register at this URL, entering the 15-digit code 08347-97365-66457 and then entering the referral code EVOLVETOWIN.

If you’ve already pre-ordered Evolve from GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Target or Walmart, 2K Games says you’re “guaranteed access to the alpha test on their chosen platform.” If you haven’t pre-ordered it yet, you can do so right now from Amazon.

All players that pre-order Evolve will also receive the Monster Expansion Pack, which includes the fourth playable monster for free when it becomes available after launch, as well as the alternate Savage Goliath skin. The Monster Expansion Pack will be available to all those that pre-order Evolve before the game ships.

“We need to stress test the servers and the matchmaking system, look at balance, unlock rates, etc. The alpha test is not fully representative of the final product, but it’s our chance to see what the game looks like in the real world,” said Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios. “We will test again in the open beta for Evolve exclusively for Xbox One in January 2015.”

Turtle Rock and 2K will also make a limited number of Big Alpha codes available at various locations online, including the official Evolve blog, Twitter and Facebook.
