Looking to extend your adventures in Ubisoft’s version of the Himalayas? You may consider checking out the Far Cry 4 Escape from Durgesh Prison DLC, which is now available for download on PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The Far Cry 4 Escape from Durgesh Prison DLC is included in the Far Cry 4 Season Pass or can be purchased separately as well.
If you buy Far Cry 4 Escape from Durgesh Prison separately, it’ll set you back $14.95. Early reviews, however, avoid against it.
I’ve not had a chance to dig into the Far Cry 4 Escape from Durgesh Prison DLC, but multiple outlets have said it’s little more than a poorly executed time trial mode that fails to deliver anything compelling. In fact, one review says the DLC is counter-intuitive to everything else Far Cry 4 stands for: immersion, exploration and gathering assets.
Ubisoft makes no bones about the DLC’s intent, saying it’s “a challenging new time trial where players race against the clock and challenge other players for the top spot on the leaderboards.” So yeah…it’s supposed to be a veritable lightning round.
Some reviewers obviously wanted a bit more from the first DLC, which is a fair enough assessment. Presumably Ubisoft Montreal is still working on that.
In this new piece of downloadable content for Far Cry 4, Ajay and Hurk find themselves defenseless in the dangerous northern region of Kyrat after being captured, tortured and stripped of their weapons in Yuma’s prison. On their way to the extraction point, they will be able to complete a series of challenges kicked off by the tyrannical Pagan Min to acquire weapons and upgrade their gear before a final stand-off against Yuma’s forces.
Playable in both single -and co-op, Escape from Durgesh Prison is a true test of players’ survival skills. They will need to arm themselves as quickly as possible, because in this mode when players die they must restart the mission and use the knowledge and skills they gained during their previous run-through to help them reach the extraction point successfully and vie for a top position on the global leaderboards.
