Max: The Curse of Brotherhood Launches on Xbox One Friday

December 19, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

It may not be an “indie game” exactly, but the first major download-only Xbox One game hits tomorrow (Friday, Dec. 20). Called Max: Curse of Brotherhood, the downloadable game was originally shown at Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference. At the time it looked awesome, so we’re eager to see how it turned out.

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is developed by Press Play and published by Microsoft Studios, hence it doesn’t really fig the bill as one of the “indie games” that PS4 owners seem to bash the Xbox One for not having enough of. However, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood definitely fits the bill as a smaller-scale game, which in our humble opinion is just fine.

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is billed as a “cinematic adventure filled with action-packed puzzles and creative puzzle-solving.” In the game, Max must confront evil at every turn in a hostile and fantastical world as he tries to save his younger brother.

Armed only with a Magic Marker, Max sets out on a perilous journey across deserts, eerie lantern-lit bogs, ancient temples and lush green forests to get his younger sibling back. Along the way, Max gains the powers to manipulate his environment and overcome seemingly impossible obstacles.

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for Xbox One will be available for download Dec. 20 for $14.99. Isn’t it nice to not have to convert Microsoft Points any more?
