If you’ve been enjoying Ubisoft’s latest Far Cry expeditions in the Himalayas, you’ll be pleased to know a new batch of Far Cry 4 DLC Escape from Durgesh Prison is coming to the game in less than one month. The Far Cry 4 DLC, a unique sort of “time trial” for the first-person shooter, will release January 13 on PS4 and Xbox One.
In Escape from Durgesh Prison, Far Cry 4 characters Ajay and Hurk wake up after being captured, tortured and stripped of their weapons in Yuma’s prison. Thrown in the dangerous world of Kyrat without any way to defend themselves, players must complete a series of challenges to find weapons and unlock new skills while trying to reach the extraction point.
The Far Cry 4 DLC Escape from Durgesh Prison is playable in both single-player mode and co-op. The co-op functionality is important, as the mode’s reportedly quite difficult as players run across Kyrat to complete side objectives dictated by Pagan Min. After they recover their lost weapons and upgrade their gear, players will face a final stand-off with Yuma’s forces.
In an old-school move, the DLC will force players to start the mission completely over if their avatar dies. The enemy challenges will remain the same, so players can use the knowledge and skills they gained during their initial run-through to help them, but that’s going to be rude awakening for younger gamers accustomed to excessive checkpoints and easy gameplay.
Escape from Durgesh Prison will be available as part of the Far Cry 4 Season Pass ($29.99), or it can be purchased separately for $9.99. Yes, the Far Cry 4 Season Pass is still available for purchase.
