Upcoming Xbox Games with Gold September 2014 Free Game

September 11, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

Amid all the Destiny gameplay sessions and fireteam shenanigans, some gamers have lost track of the upcoming Xbox Games with Gold September 2014 free game. The forgetfulness is understandable, as Bungie’s multiplatform game is amazing. But Bungie is tied directly to the next Xbox Games with Gold free game for September 2014, so Xbox 360 owners in particular may need their memory jogged.

While Xbox One owners have the same two Games with Gold September 2014 free games all month (Super Time Force and Crimson Dragon), Xbox 360 owners are getting their titles spaced out.

The first Games with Gold game for September, Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine, is a top-down team-based shooter that encourages stealth. That free game is only available through Sept. 15.

But less than one week from now, the Games with Gold September 2014 free game for Xbox 360 owners will be Halo: Reach.

Halo: Reach is by far the most high-profile free game Microsoft has yet made available via its Xbox Games with Gold program. Halo: Reach is the prequel to the Master Chief storyline from the core Halo games, so it doesn’t feature Master Chief himself.

With that said, Halo: Reach is still an impressive game, and it’s certainly worth checking out even on a paid basis. You can read our Halo: Reach review here. The fact that Halo: Reach is going to be a free game in the Xbox 360 Games with Gold September 2014 lineup is great.

Its release is also quite strategic. Microsoft is releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection later this fall for Xbox One. Considering Microsoft wants more people to upgrade to its next-gen console, it’s a great idea to essentially be releasing the entire Halo series within a two-month span.
