Xbox One Pre-Orders at Amazon: The Cheapest and Only Non-Bundled Option

Microsoft came out swinging this morning in announcing the Xbox One will ship this November for $499, and pre-orders immediately began populating web and retail outlets worldwide. The only problem was that almost all of them involved a bundled package, which increases the price considerably — a facet many gamers may be particularly averse to now that Sony unveiled the PS4 price as $399. If you want the cheapest Xbox One pre-order, you should head over to Amazon right now, because Amazon.com is the only place where you can pre-order Microsoft’s next console without a bundle — thus making Amazon the cheapest place to pre-order and get an Xbox One.

During its E3 media briefing, Microsoft touted what it called the “Day One Edition,” a simple marketing-speak reference to the initial batch of hardware and not likely involving anything specifically special. Again, though, if you go to Walmart.com, Gamestop.com or any of the traditional retailers, Xbox One bundles are the norm. So, we highly recommend that if you’re interested in the next Xbox console you head over to Amazon immediately to make your Xbox One Day One Edition pre-order, because it’s the cheapest available and is thus likely a package you want to get immediately.

Much of the chatter coming out of Sony’s press conference related to Sony announcing the PS4 price as $100 less than Microsoft’s console, so price sensitivities are important. Sure, you’re going to want to pick up games like Forza Motorsport 5, The Elder Scrolls Online and Call of Duty: Ghosts, but why force yourself to pre-order a bundle that limits your choices? Instead, head over to Amazon to make your Xbox One pre-order and then decide on the games you want and create your own “bundle” as you see fit.

Just remember: if you want to get your console on Day One, as Microsoft would say, you’re likely going to want to get your pre-order now. The Wii U — arguably a less-anticipated system by most of the gaming public — had its pre-orders sell out well in advance.
