Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is coming off a short week, but there’s no doubt he’ll be ready for today’s San Francisco 49ers game. Smith heads to San Francisco for the first time to face his former team, and he’s doing so with running back Jamaal Charles finally looking healthy. Could that bode well for the 2-2 Chiefs putting the 49ers back in losing territory?
Smith and the Chiefs dismantled the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football this week 41-14. Kansas City put up 303 yards before halftime, and Charles had 108 yards from scrimmage and scored three touchdowns.
San Francisco has one of the league’s top defenses though, allowing 217.5 passing yards and just 69.8 rushing yards per game. Motivation will only get Smith and the Chiefs so far.
The 49ers are coming off a big win over the Philadelphia Eagles last week, breaking a two-game skid. Frank Gore’s 119 yards were his 100-yard game of the season. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick added 218 yards passing and an 87.9 total quarterback rating to go with 58 yards rushing.
