One of the games we’re most looking forward to this week at E3 is Batman: Arkham Knight. Warner Bros. Interactive’s Arkham series has long been excellent, so hearing things like “you can drive the Batmobile now” gets our collective pulse racing. Just ahead of E3 2014, Warner Bros. has released an official Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Battle Mode video, and we’ve got it here for your viewing pleasure.

The Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Battle Mode video shows how the Batmobile morphs into a full combat ready machine. Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham Knight marks the first time the Batmobile will be driveable in the Arkham series, and to my knowledge the first time it’s been feasible in any modern Batman game. The Batmobile won’t just be something to use to putter around the streets quietly, but you probably figured as much. However, the Batmobile has a full-on Battle Mode that players can activate as they’re sitting behind the wheel of the Caped Crusader’s famed vehicle.

The Batmobile isn’t always in this mode, a fact that underscores the car’s versatility. In fact, it actually has to go through a transition into Battle Mode. This new Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Battle Mode video shows just how that transition takes place.

Batman: Arkham Knight is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license and will be available exclusively for the PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The game will brings the award-winning Batman: Arkham trilogy to a close as Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city that he’s sworn to protect. That threat: Scarecrow has returned to unite the super criminals of Gotham and destroy the Batman forever.

Developed exclusively for next-gen consoles, Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s version of the Batmobile to let gamers tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City. Here’s the pre-E3 video teaser showing more about how that’s done.

If you like what you see in the Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile battle mode video above, there’s plenty more info to come in the days, weeks and months ahead. In the meantime, here’s that link again to pre-order Batman: Arkham Knight from Amazon.
