The FEAR franchise has provided some of gaming’s best-looking moments and most intimidating AI, even if its narratives have left a little be to be desired. Yet here we are, with FEAR 3 ready to scare the pants off people just in time for Halloween, and a nice new branching-path co-op feature that will let you and a friend pee a little together. In FEAR 3, the story expands to include the perspective of Alma’s two sons, Point Man and Paxton Fettel. In fact, even if you’re not in co-op mode you can play as Fettel once you beat each mission. The biggest change, though, is the addition of meta-game-like Challenges, which are largely individual in nature but keep you playing hours longer than intended. That’s a good thing, in our opinion.
