Halo may not have been Microsoft’s Xbox 360 killer app at E3 2010, but the storied first-party franchise was there in full force with Halo: Reach gameplay video, all sorts of Halo: Reach hype and more than one person talking about Halo 3: ODST and its granting of access to the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta. It’s not surprising, then, if more than a few people re-discovered their love for the Halo series.
Well, Halo 3: ODST could be just the thing to help scratch that itch. The game, which doesn’t feature Master Chief, takes place in New Mombasa as the Covenant are searching for something beneath its darkened streets. As an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper (ODST — also known as a “hell jumper”), players must stay alive, meet up with their scattered squad and escape the embattled city. Most gamers know how the story ends, but being able to run through New Mombasa as someone other than Cortana’s main squeeze makes for some entertaining times. Oh, and just by having the game disc, you get access to the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta.
