In her first presentation, Greer reported that the Worldwide Game-based Learning market reached $1.7 billion in 2013. The global growth rate is 6.7% and revenues will reach $2.4 billion by 2018. She also presented data on recent private investments made to Game-based Learning suppliers.

“People that attend Serious Play tend to be Game-based Learning experts and it is always gratifying to know we are offering value to such a crowd,” reports Greer. “We had people from all over the world—from India to Scotland—attend our sessions. Interest is truly international. I was even interviewed by a Chinese correspondent that aired a segment about my sessions on Chinese television.”

In her second session, Greer discussed the new innovations in Mobile Edugames. “We have reported that early childhood learning apps are the top selling Mobile Learning apps in most countries across the planet and that the trend for including parental involvement is growing,” commented Greer.

Almost all learning apps designed for young children include gameplay. Greer cautioned attendees to remain aware of evolving privacy regulations that address apps for children.

Ambient Insight’s new research reveals that mobile technology is the key driver energizing the global edugame market.
