Capcom today released Bionic Commando Rearmed, a makeover of the 20-year-old eight-bit game on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC. Bionic Commando Rearmed costs 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360, $9.99 on the PS3, or $14.99 on PC.
Bionic Commando Rearmed sees a return to the 2D side-scrolling, shooting and grappling that the 1988 game was known for on the original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). However, this game has been upgraded with new visuals, new weapons, online rankings, a reworked musical score and newly reworked stages — so it’s not just some old-school port.
Since it’s a next-gen game, Bionic Commando Rearmed also includes two-player co-op, a multiplayer mode for up to four players and a series of 50-plus “challenge rooms” in which players can test their swinging skills. Each version of the game also features content unique to its platform, and completing parts of Bionic Commando Rearmed will unlock new content for and insight about the next-generation sequel, Bionic Commando.
