Before “The Office” hit NBC’s airwaves, there was a BBC series called “People Like Us,” a set of 12 fly-on-the-wall mockumentaries about the embarrassments, misstatements and general unsightliness of workplace life starring Bill Nighy among its cast.
In People Like Us: The Complete Series, BBC interviewer Roy Mallard travels the country to talk to ordinary folks and get under the skin of what it’s really like to be one of Britain’s unsung professioals. Mallard has little to no skill as an interviewer, utterly insensitive to nuance or atmosphere and constantly caught off-guard by interviewees who take his nonsensical questions too literally.
