We’re big fans of Skylanders Giants, and not just because four members of our editorial staff have kids. The franchise is just plain fun. Skylanders Swap Force, which we recently got to play with several new characters, seems to be shaping up even better for those adults in the household. But before Swap Force ships
, Activision and Frito-Lay are co-promoting a mobile app that highlights the Skylanders Giants Sidekicks figurines, among others.
Frito-Lay and Activision have teamed up to launch the Skylanders Giants In-Store Adventure mobile app. This app, which will be activated in supermarkets across the United States, uses Augmented Reality technology to bring the popular Skylanders Giants game characters to life on shoppers’ smartphones.
Naturally, this means you’ll be able to “bring to life” the Skylanders Giants Sidekicks figurines shown above, as well as any other you may happen to have. The app seems pretty slick, and we’re hoping to check it out soon.
In the meantime, if you’re wondering which Skylanders Giants Sidekicks figurines are shown above, they are (from left to right): Mini Jini (sidekick to Ninjini), Eye Small (sidekick to Eye-Brawl), Thumpling (sidekick to Thumpback), and Barkley (sidekick to Tree Rex). I’d personally love to get my hands on some more Skylanders Giants Sidekicks, not to mention other Skylanders Giants toys, and I can’t wait to see, hold and play with all the Swap Force figures (and Sidekicks?) Activision has cooking. Oh yeah, and the kids will like them too….
