Sony Pictures Television Dives into Original IP Market for Mobile Gaming With “Suits and Swords”

January 23, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

Sony Pictures Television has launched “Suits and Swords,” its first free-to-play original IP mobile and tablet game. “Suits and Swords” mixes the strategy of playing blackjack with the excitement of a role-playing game (RPG), creating a new type of adventure that will have gamers of all ages hooked from the first battle.

In “Suits and Swords” players lead Captain Black Jack on an epic card-battling journey to free four-card realms from a curse placed by the evil Joker. Key features of “Suits and Swords” include:

  • Save the Four-Card Realms: Travel through a rich and intriguing story of a world gone amiss and a hero who must do all he can to find the Joker. Fight through four lands – the Heart Union, Diamond Empire, Club Kingdom, and Spade Nation – and free them from the Joker’s curse.
  • Become a Blackjack Master: Battle enemies using the rules and strategy of blackjack.  Fight over 100 battles across the four realms to save the kingdom.
  • Arm for Battle: Gamers will unlock and equip weapons, armor, magic and more to fight their way to the Joker. Each item comes stacked with varying RPG stats that help bolster the powers of Captain Black Jack and his abilities.
  • Explore the World: Uncover the story of the Joker and find hidden items along the way. Conquer game achievements and unlock side quests for an added challenge.

“Sony Pictures Television has built a successful track record of leveraging familiar franchises like ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy’ to create a variety of popular and engaging mobile games,” said Philip Lynch, SVP Digital Networks, SPT. “As we look to expand our portfolio with free-to-consumer titles, we’re creating new game IP like ‘Suits and Swords’ to grow our audience base and reach a key marketable demographic.”

“Suits and Swords,” a single-player game, is available now for free, with additional content available via in-game purchase.
