While hockey fans wait for the first puck to drop on the 2008-09 NHL season, 2K Sports is making the wait a little bit easier with a free demo of NHL 2K9 on the PlayStation Network. The Xbox 360 demo will arrive next week.
The NHL 2K9 demo gives fans a chance to try the new simplified control setup via a three-minute re-creation of last season’s Stanley Cup Final. That’s right, the demo is only three minutes long, but it’ll let gamers play as either the Pittsburgh Penguins or Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena (in Detroit).
2K Sports’ full version of NHL 2K9 will include a Zamboni mini-game, playoff beards, a revamped fighting engine, new in-game commentary, an improved franchise mode and upgraded online features. It will ship on Sept. 9 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2.
