After losing their season opener, the Baltimore Ravens have rattled off three wins in a row and are looking to make it four today at 1pm EST in Lucas Oil Stadium. Standing in their way are the Indianapolis Colts, whose offense has surprised everyone by leading the league in both total points and passing yards. Though the Colts are a one-trick pony (read: Andrew Luck), the tricks are working wonders.
But can the tricks continue to do that against the Ravens defense? Though Luck hasn’t led the NFL in efficiency — he has the fifth-best QBR — he’s thrown for an astonishing 1,305 yards and 13 touchdowns through four weeks. Not only that, but his offensive line, for so long a liability, has held up under pressure.
In last Sunday’s 41-17 win over the Titans, Luck completed 29 of 41 passes for four touchdowns and a season-high 393 yards. With those stats, the Colts moved to the top of the league in total yards (444 per game) and average points per game (34).
That should prove a good test for the Ravens. If you watch the Ravens game live online you’ll see the 24th-ranked pass defense, but Baltimore on the whole is allowing just 15 points per game. That’s good enough for tops in the league.
The Ravens could also do well on offense in today’s Colts game. Quarterback Joe Flacco has returned to form, passing for 1,055 yards and 7 TDs. Wideout Steve Smith has also been on a tear, with 429 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns. Last week alone Smith had 139 yards and 2 TDs in the Ravens’ 38-10 win over the Panthers. Flacco and Smith will be going up against a bad Colts pass rush and a team that’s lost safety LaRon Landry.
Though both teams won big last Sunday, Indy enters today’s Ravens game as 3.5-point favorites. You can watch the Baltimore Ravens take on the Indianapolis Colts live on CBS.
