Week 3 of the preseason is supposed to be the final tune-up for the regular season, as most starters sit out the final game. That puts a ton of pressure on Dez Bryant and Tony Romo for tonight’s Dallas Cowboys / Miami Dolphins game. Megatron and Romo may be the only things the Cowboys have going for them this year.

Dallas fans bemoaned not drafting Johnny Manziel, but Romo’s week 2 performance last week erased their concerns. In two series against the Baltimore Ravens last week, Romo went 4-of-5 for 80 yards and a touchdown to Bryant. His lone incompletion was a drop by James Hanna.
During the regular season Romo may be bailed out by a rejuvenated running game. Six of the Cowboys’ first eight plays against the Chargers came on the ground, and they rushed the ball on nine of 14 plays run by the first-team offense against the Ravens. Still, today’s Dolphins game will largely be about Romo and Bryant finding their rhythm.
On the other side of the field, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has completed 75 percent of his passes this preseason and is playing better in general. Miami’s offensive line needs to better support the running game, though, as the Dolphins had minus-5 yards on the ground at halftime last week against the Buccaneers.
They’ll likely look better tonight against the Cowboys. Last season the Cowboys had one of the worst defensive lines in the NFL. This season it’s only gotten worse thanks to the loss of DeMarcus Ware.
That increases the chance we’ll see Miami running back Knowshon Moreno and tight end Charles Clay. Both men practiced all week and are likely to make their 2014 debut tonight against Dallas. Against a stronger defense their presence may have been less likely.
