The Cincinnati Bengals enter today’s 1pm EST showdown with the Tennessee Titans with a 2-0 record, one of the most complete offense/defense packages in the league and having won the past two times these teams met. They also have one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks through two weeks and are playing at home. So why watch today’s Titans Bengals game live?
Because in spite of all the pro-Bengals statistics, Tennessee is still only a 3.5-point underdog today.
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has led the Bengals to the AFC’s top-ranked offense having thrown for 553 yards and two touchdowns through two weeks. He’s led the NFL in yards per attempt (9.07), and his offensive line has not only bought him time to find receivers but has kept him from being sacked so far this year.
Dalton got some good news Friday that tight end A.J. Green will play today, though Cincinnati won Sunday’s home opener against the Falcons 24-10 despite playing nearly the entire game without him. The Bengals will still be without tight ends Alex Smith and Tyler Eifert, so it could be an uphill battle at Paul Brown Stadium when you watch the Bengals game live online.
Titans quarterback Jake Locker has played almost as well as Dalton, completing 40 of 67 passes for 500 yards and three touchdowns. But it’s the eight-ranked Titans defense that gives Tennessee a chance to win today’s Bengals game.
The Titans defense is tops in the NFL for passing yards allowed (163) and has allowed 18 points per game, good enough for eighth. Yet their 25th-rated rushing defense could give Bengals running backs Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill some open lanes.
