1942: Joint Strike Flies onto Xbox Live, PlayStation Network

Capcom’s re-imagined 1942 videogame has launched onto Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network today, with 1942: Joint Strike now available for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 or $9.99 on PS3.

The new 1942: Joint Strike features two-player online cooperative play and new co-op “Joint Strike attacks” that combine the powers of two aircrafts into one devastating barrage. The graphics and music have also been updated, and there’s a brand new score by Norihiko Hibino, best known for his music in the Metal Gear series.

Even though it’s a “next-gen” entry in the classic 1942 series, Joint Strike still takes inspiration from the 1980s’ vertical-scrolling arcade shooters. The art, sound and gameplay of the new game take cues from the original games, and the gameplay resembles the classic top-down action of yesteryear — but with high-definition 3D graphics.
