Commando: Steel Disaster Coming to Nintendo DS

With all the talk about Xbox Live Arcade, the PlayStation Network and Wii Virtual Console, it’s about time a handheld game got a taste of old-school gaming. So 2D side-scroller fans take note: a new action game called Commando: Steel Disaster is headed to the Nintendo DS this September.

Commando: Steel Disaster borrows a page from just about every NES-era game, starting with players taking on the role of an elite commando named “Storm” as he battles his archrival “Rattlesnake.” You just don’t get names like that anymore, much less enemies that are actually referred to as “henchmen.”

A fast-paced, single-player game, Commando: Steel Disaster is a side-scrolling game that supports dramatic battles of up to 10 enemies at one time. The game features the requisite boss characters, collectible items that can unlock hidden environments and old-school challenging AI enemies.

Commando: Steel Disaster will have an ESRB rating of E10+ and set you back $19.99.
