The first re-mastered version of Star Trek: The Original Series came last year, when Season One released on HD-DVD and DVD with a host of bells and whistles. Although HD-DVD is now gone, Paramount is still very keen on DVD, so the studio will soon release Star Trek The Original Series: Season Two in a re-mastered, eight-disc DVD box set (MSRP: $99.99).
Meticulously remastered from the original negative, each classic episode will be presented with new digital visual effects, including a computer-generated Enterprise based on the exact measurements of the original model. In addition, Star Trek The Original Series: Season 2 will feature a new 5.1 soundtrack, a digitally remastered version of William Shatner’s original “Space, the final frontier” intro, and a version of the theme song that’s been re-recorded in digital stereo. We are absolutely thrilled about the box set’s release, and we’re equally excited to be giving away five of these complete Season Two box sets courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment. That’s $500 worth of Star Trek goodness.
