A new multiplayer and chat-capable puzzle game designed exclusively for the iPhone was announced today that takes full advantage of the iPhone’s touch capabilities. The game, called Swatches, has multiplayer capability that allows gameplay between iPhone and iTouch users and supports chat without interrupting the game.
In Swatches for the iPhone, players compete to control the largest blocks of color against live opponents or against a challenging AI. The game lobby allows players to create their own matches, give themselves custom names and view who is currently in the game or waiting to start a new one.
Up to six players can talk to each other in the lobby area and during gameplay without needing to leave the game or open a new screen. iPhone and iTouch players can download the game and begin playing in about 30 seconds.
“There are many games currently available to download to your iPhone but most of them are just ports of existing games,” said Rob Carroll, Producer with TableStar, the company developing Swatches. “We designed Swatches especially to use the … touch screen on the iPhone in conjunction with the multiplayer capabilities of an online device.”
