PlayStation Plus April 2014 Free Games List is Impressive

March 28, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

Sony’s coming out of GDC with some body blows. First the company fired back at Microsoft’s wave of positive Xbox One PR with a list of hundreds of PS4 games on the way in 2014. Now Sony’s taken the wraps off its PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games roster. The official list of PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games spans both the PS3 and the PS4, and it’s safe to say that the PS Plus April lineup is one of the better ones we’ve seen.

Sony and Microsoft fans have been duking it out for months now in the debate of whether the Xbox Games with Gold or revamped PS Plus program is stronger. The first several months have seen momentum swing in both directions, though the PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games list may point the pendulum in Sony’s favor this time around. Presuming you like indie games and/or have both a PS4 and PS3.

The lone PS4 entry in Sony’s PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games roster is small and unknown, but it sounds pretty sweet. The April PS Plus game for PS4 is a new 2D action game called Mercenary Kings. In Mercenary Kings, players can join up with friends and take down an evil corporation named CLAW that has taken over an island. On this island you’ll discover weapon parts that you can take back to your base and use to fashion together some new gear.

No offense to Mercenary Kings, but PS3 owners fare better on the PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games roster. Here’s why: PS3 owners are getting Batman: Arkham City for free with their PS Plus membership in April. With the recent announcement of Batman Arkham Knight, this is a great way to catch up on Batman’s adventures — and for free.

PS3 owners will also receive two additional games via the PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games program. First is Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, an HD re-imagining of the Sega Genesis classic. When the evil witch Mizrabel kidnaps Minnie, it’s up to Mickey to brave the dangers of the Castle of Illusion to rescue Minnie. Everyone’s favorite mouse must traverse enchanted forests, take on hordes of rebellious toys and navigate mazes of living books.

Next up is Stealth Inc., a fast-paced stealth platformer featuring brutal hazards, ruthless enemies, fiendish puzzles and red pixels galore. Armed with only your wits and a pair of Stealthing Goggles, it’s your job to sneak your way through a lethal, 80-level facility with no weapons and no armor. In short, being seen means instant death.

PlayStation Vita owners will also get some love, with two titles on the PlayStation Plus April 2014 free games list.: Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD and Velocity Ultra.
