In an announcement posted on Digitimes, Nintendo may have to hold of on initial plans of increasing production of its Wii Console. Nintendo’s goal was to increase production this summer, but there is a tight supply of the Wii’s internal components such as the IC chip and PCBs, according to Taiwan-based component makers. Component shortages aren’t expected to increase until 2008.
With this announcement there doesn’t appear to be an end in site for the Wii shortages that has plagued the greater US, and with Super Smash Bros. and Super Mario Galaxy both coming out this year this will definitely be a blow to Nintendo’s 2007 fiscal reportings.
