Wii Sports proved that Nintendo Wii owners love them some mini-games, and PEOPLE magazine, among others, prove that people dig their favorite celebrities. Combine those things, and you’ve got a sure-fire winner, right? EA sure hopes so, as the company today began shipping Celebrity Sports Showdown for the Nintendo Wii.
In Celebrity Sports Showdown, games play 12 outdoor-based mini-games as celebrities including Keith Urban, Fergie and Avril Lavigne, and/or as athletes such as Paul Pierce and Mia Hamm. All told, the game includes 10 celebrities and allows up to four players to compete in 12 outdoor sports games.
Players can paddle through rapids in Wild Water Canoeing, or hold on tight as they cruise around the water for some Inner-Tubing. Beach Volleyball and Smash Badminton are also included, as is Arena Dodgeball. Need to cool down? Try out Slalom Showdown or Curling. Want to get some air? Scale walls in Cliff Hangers or fly around in Air Racers. Additional games include Rapid Fire Archery, Joust Duel and Hurdle Derby.
The $39.99 Wii game includes the following celebrities and athletes: Fergie, Avril Lavigne, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, Nelly Furtado, Paul Pierce, Mia Hamm, Kristi Yamaguchi, Reggie Bush and Sugar Ray Leonard.
