Activision today shipped Dancing with the Stars for both the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2, while a limited-edition party bundle containing a dance pad and the PS2 version will release on November 13. How Wii owners are supposed to “dance” without the pad is a bit odd, though.
The PS2 version makes sense, as it’s compatible with other dance pads already on the market (hello, DDR). But with the Wii, players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to physically mimic dance moves. Um, OK.
Dancing with the Stars (the game) includes nine stars from past seasons, including Joey Lawrence, Laila Ali and nine professional dancers, as players compete to impress the judges. The music tracks are chosen from 36 licensed songs, including She’s a Lady, These Boots are Made for Walking, The Final Countdown, I Like The Way You Move, Put Your Records On and Independent Woman Part 1. The game also supports all 10 dance styles from the show.
The game features single-player, head-to-head and duet modes.
