Electronic Arts may have “rolled the dice” launching a new franchise and genre in Dead Space, but now the company is asking gamers to literally roll the dice with them, as the company has released MONOPOLY for the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PS2. The video game took inspiration from Hasbro’s new MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition board game.
The MONOPOLY video game brings the classic board game into the digital realm with “state-of-the-art twists and turns,” but EA assures us that the game hasn’t changed to much that it strays from the tried-and-true heritage of the original title.
Multiplayer capabilities on all four versions allow up to four gamers to play simultaneously. In addition to classic MONOPOLY gameplay, EA has created several new features including the ability to unlock multiple never-before-seen game boards that each carry a unique theme such as jungle, snow/ice and desserts (note the spelling…it’s “ice cream and cookies,” not “barren and sandy wasteland”).
Another twist includes shorter bursts of gameplay such as Richest Mode, which allows players to complete a game of MONOPOLY in 30 minutes or less. The game also includes 12 mini-games such as Get out of Jail, in which players saw prison cell bars to escape, and Take a Ride on the Reading, which challenges gamers to stop on time at each train station.
MONOPOLY for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 all have a MSRP of $39.99, while the PS2 version carries a retail price of $29.99. You can order the game from Amazon using the appropriate link below.
