Robot Chicken: Star Wars, the Adult Swim stop-motion sketch that cracked up geeks (like us) everywhere, is coming to DVD this summer. Warner Home Video announced today that it will bring Robot Chicken: Star Wars to DVD, with a host of bonus features, on July 22.
The Robot Chicken: Star Wars special debuted on Adult Swim in June 2007. The stop-motion animation spoof intertwines the staples of George Lucas’ Star Wars universe with “yo’ momma” battles, riffs on George W. Bush and of course on Star Wars fanboys.
Robot Chicken: Star Wars has been available on Xbox Live Marketplace for a while now, but this DVD may well be worth your while, considering the number of bonus features it will include:
- Chicken Nuggets (a sketch-by-sketch video commentary)
- Animation Meeting
- On-Air Bumps
- Trailers
- Behind-the-Scenes Featurette
- Deleted Scenes
- Alternate Audio
- Time Lapse Sequences
- Photo Gallery
- STAR WARS Celebration IV Convention Panel Presentation
- Production Design Featurette
- Episode Commentary – more than two hours
In addition to George Lucas’ cameo appearance in a fan-convention scene, other celebrities voices include Conan O’Brien, Seth MacFarlane, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, James Van Der Beek, Robert Smigel, Donald Faison, Abraham Benrubi, Breckin Meyer and Joey Fatone.
