Today’s Jaguars vs Broncos game has three interesting history attached to it. First, Broncos QB Peyton Manning has thrown the most touchdown passes (20) through the first five games of a season in NFL history. Second, the Broncos have scored the most points through five games of any team in NFL history (230). And third, the Broncos enter as 28-point favorites, the largest spread in NFL history. Neither of those bodes well for the 0-5 Jacksonville Jaguars, but boy will they make for great entertainment. Kickoff is scheduled on CBS for 4:05 Eastern / 1:05 Pacific, and there are bound to be plenty of people who watch Jaguars at Broncos online streaming live free using one of several different methods. The big question on everyone’s mind: would 28 points even reflect the final margin of victory?
With the numbers Broncos QB Peyton Manning has notched this year, it’s no surprise that Denver has the top-rated offense and top-rated passing game of the five-game-old NFL season. Jacksonville’s most highly rated statistical category is defense, but that’s not likely to cause Manning to miss a beat, since the Jaguars D is still only ranked 22nd in the league. Ironically, that’s still better than Denver’s defensive ranking. Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne will be going up against an atrocious Broncos defense (ranked 29th), but his numbers this season don’t indicate Henne will do much to take advantage of it.
For the season, Henne has gone 53-95 for 601 yards and 2 touchdowns. By comparison, Broncos QB Peyton Manning has gone 150-198 for 1,884 yards and 20 touchdowns. For those tracking stats at home, that really is three times more yards than Henne’s tossed and 10 times more touchdowns. Manning is a beast this season, no question there, but Henne’s poor performance for the Jags this year has been as laughable as Manning’s has been incredible.
There is literally no expert anywhere predicting the Jaguars will win, whether you look at ESPN or any of the NFL Networks’ professionals. Still, the ESPN has some interesting thoughts in its Double Coverage piece about the game, answering the rhetorical question of what the Jags have to look forward to this season — not necessarily what fans have to look forward to when they watch Jaguars at Broncos online streaming live free. “Offensively, it’s receivers Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts,” says the article, and “[t]here are two rookies in the secondary who will be the backbone of the defense: safeties Josh Evans (sixth round) and Johnathan Cyprien (second).” However, ESPN points out that those are young players who will benefit the team down the line, but certainly not today.
Last week the Broncos scored 51 points against the Dallas Cowboys, which totaled as many points as the Jaguars have scored all season. That stat line inspired an actual mini Twitter battle between the two teams this week, as the Jags took offense at the Broncos pointing it out, while the Broncos said they were merely reporting facts. Yes they were, but it certainly provided some locker-room fodder for the Jaguars as they prepared this week to go to Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Locker room fodder or not, the Jaguars enter today’s game completely over matched, and there’s little chance they’ll leave Denver with their first win of the season. The mind races at the type and volume of Twitter posturing that would erupt if they did — not to mention the shouts of glee from suddenly-rich fans who put money on the Jaguars just for giggles. You can watch the Broncos commence their Jaguars beatdown on CBS starting at 4:05 EDT / 1:05 PDT, or you can watch Jaguars at Broncos online streaming live free on DirecTV with the NFL Sunday Ticket package, which requires a fee but is a free stream for subscribers.
