The anticipated but ever-mysterious PS3 game Heavy Rain just got an official release date that’s far closer than you might imagine: February 23. For an episodic game that few people really know how to label or pin down, that Feb. 23 date seems mighty fast. Of course, it’s also quite exciting for those who have wanted to get their hands on the elusive title since the PS3’s second appearance at E3, when it was first teased.
If you’re confident the plot-driven game (hallelujah!) will be on your must-own list, you should consider pre-ordering it from a local retailer. If you do so, you’ll receive for free and before anyone else the first episode of The Heavy Rain Chronicles titled, “Heavy Rain: Chronicle One — The Taxidermist.” This episode, like subsequent episodes down the line, has a suggested retail price of $4.99.
In Heavy Rain, players try to track down the Origami Killer, who earned that nickname due to his calling card of leaving folded paper shapes on victims. Gamers assume the role of four separate characters, each with his or her own motives but each of whom take part in a desperate attempt to stop the killer from claiming a new victim to whom they’re connected.
