The first level of Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, an alternate reality shooter from Codemasters, is now up as a playable demo on Xbox Live Marketplace. The Xbox 360 is the only console to get a playable demo; PS3 and PC gamers will have to wait until the full version ships later this year.
The Turning Point: Fall of Liberty demo (like the game) opens as the sun rises over New York in an altered vision of 1953. Without warning, the Third Reich launch an attack, flattening the Statue of Liberty in a devastating bombing run.
As this hell breaks out, players assume the role of Dan Carson, a construction engineer working on a skyscraper. The invasion intensifies and, as the sky fills with Zeppelins, jets and assault blimps, the skyscraper takes several direct hits. As the building collapses, players must control Carson as he runs along girders, finds ladders and leaps from girder to girder to safety.
It’s not all a platforming demo, though: players will come face to face with enemy paratroopers and must grapple with opponents Krav Maga-style, disarming and dispatching them off the side of the building in environmental kills.
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is scheduled to ship sometime before summer for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows-based PC. No exact release date has been determined.
