Roman Backgammon – Go Back In Time – New App by eoz games

April 16, 2012 by Sara Leave a Comment

New York, New York – eoz games is pleased to announce Roman Backgammon 1.0, its new gaming title for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch at a two week introductory price of $2.99. Roman Backgammon is a simpler, ancient version of backgammon that is fun for adults and an excellent way to introduce children to the game. Roman Backgammon unearths the roots of the classic Backgammon game to deliver a unique experience with slightly different rules and a custom mosaic game board and dice design to take you back in time.

The game can be played in standard one or two player modes, or a player can select an opponent from anywhere in the world using Game Center. Three levels of difficulty ensure a broad range of play and iTunes integration even lets users select music from their own library. In Roman Backgammon, all stones begin off the board. Both players move on and off the board in the same direction. The board does not have the triangular points used in modern backgammon.

Roman Backgammon features a stunning ancient mosaic board with coordinated ebony and ivory dice and stones. Users can play against the computer (choose from three levels of play), ‘pass and play’ using their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, or compete through Game Center, all while using iTunes integration to listen to their favorite music or playlist without exciting the game. Other features include a highlight option to show possible moves, two user friendly move options, automatic save and pause, an undo move function and an elegant dice roll.

Backgammon is the oldest known board game and is believed to have originated in Mesopotamia in the Persian Empire thousands of year ago. Egyptians, Sumerians, Romans and Persians may have played an ancient form of backgammon on wood or stone surfaces with dice made of bones, stones, wood or pottery. The Romans spread the game across Europe and this period was particularly important in the development of the game. Roman Backgammon is an ancient version of the game we know so well – now it can be played as the Romans did in the first century.
