Beat Detective Lets Players Test Their Inner Metronome

May 15, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

Baba Blacksheep Games today released Beat Detective for iOS, a game that challenges your sense of tempo. Players can pick any song from their music collection, listen to a snippet, try tapping out the tempo from memory and see if they were right or wrong. In addition to showing the calculated tempo, players can also see what tempo other Beat Detectives tapped at for that particular song.

Players can play one song at a time, or shuffle through a playlist or their entire library. As they move from song to song, the app changes colors based on the album artwork. Beat Detective also offers two difficulty modes. Easy mode let the player listen to a snippet so that they can refresh their memory before tapping out the tempo. True Beat Detectives can play at a harder difficulty setting where they need to tap out the tempo purely from memory.

Other features include
* View and compare answers from your fellow Beat Detectives
* No in-app purchases
* Game Center leaderboards and achievements

The game features a couple of other modes for the more competitive Beat Detective. Daily “Song of the Day” competitions allow players to see how accurate they are compared to other Beat Detectives. There is also a high-scoring mode where players are challenged to an endless series of randomized drum patterns.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
* Requires iOS 6.1 or later
* 9.3 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Beat Detective is $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.
