The AP Top 25 College Football poll is out for Week 11, and the Auburn Tigers football program dropped in a big way. With the top two teams unchanged, Auburn football fans will now see their team barely in the Top 10. Oregon Ducks fans, meanwhile, are celebrating a jump to the No. 3 spot.
The Auburn football news wasn’t rosy after the Tigers were stunned 41-38 by an unranked Texas A&M Aggies football team. Having held the No. 3 spot for weeks in both the AP Top 25 College Football poll and the first two College Football Playoff Committee brackets, Auburn found itself Sunday night in the No. 9 spot in the AP Top 25 CFB Poll.
The College Football Playoff Committee won’t release its next CFB playoff bracket until Tuesday night. It’s widely presumed that Auburn will have fallen out of that picture entirely.
In their place, the Oregon Ducks have moved up to the No. 3 spot in the AP Top 25 College Football poll and are expected to move up to Auburn’s old No. 3 slot in the Playoff Committee’s Tuesday bracket. Oregon moved up after a convincing 51-27 victory over Utah, which was ranked No. 20 on Saturday.
Mississippi State and Florida State retained their No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the latest AP Poll. Oregon moved into the No. 3 spot, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 4 and TCU at No. 5. Oregon and Alabama are all but assured to hold the Playoff Committee’s final two bracket spots on Tuesday night.
After losing to Ohio State, the Michigan State Spartans fell from No. 7 to No. 12, while UCLA moves up from 18th to 14th. Elsewhere in the Pac-12, the Arizona Wildcats moved up from No. 21 to No. 17, and Utah dropped five spots to round out the AP Top 25 College Football Poll.
