SEGA today shipped Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo DS. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is also available for the Wii.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for Nintendo DS lets players take on the role of their favorite video game heroes from the worlds of Mario or Sonic (eight from each universe) as they take part in a series of Olympic events. The DS game includes 16 official challenges, two of which are exclusive to the Nintendo DS: 10m Platform (Diving) and Pursuit (Cycling). It also features eight Dream events, five of which are exclusive to the handheld version: Dream Canoe, Dream Boxing, Dream Basketball, Dream Long Jump and Dream Shooting. Available in both single-player and multiplayer modes, Dream events take the Olympic sports and bring them into video game-inspired worlds filled with obstacles and power-ups.
All told, the game includes three gameplay modes. Single Match Mode lets players choose one specific event to play, Circuit Mode lets players choose from a series of events, and Mission Mode involves a series of solo challenges that test players’ athletic capabilities, timing and reflexes. In the digital sense, of course.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games uses the Nintendo DS’ wireless capabilities and offers multiplayer challenges for up to four players.
