Castlevania Lords of Shadow Soundtracks Coming Soon

September 27, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

Back when we were slaying goblins in the 8-bit NES days, the music was fun and catchy but certainly nothing to write home about. As time and games have progressed, that’s changed a ton, to the point that full orchestras are now used to record the soundtracks for big-budget games. One of the franchises best known for its music is Castlevania, so fans of vampire slayers everywhere will be pleased to learn that Konami is preparing to release a series of Castlevania Lords of Shadow soundtracks in the near future.

Konami has partnered with Sumthing Else Music Works (a heavyweight in video game soundtracks) to release the full original Castlevania Lords of Shadow soundtracks. The deal will be a true series, too, as Konami’s deal is a multiple-title licensing agreement spanning the entire action-adventure franchise.

Featuring the original musical score from the best-selling title in Castlevania franchise history, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Ultimate Edition Soundtrack is scheduled for a physical release on Oct. 29 in North America and Europe in retail and online at iTunes, Amazon MP3 and other digital music sites. An extended version of the album, the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Director’s Cut, includes twenty previously unreleased tracks which will be available exclusively from Sumthing’s website.

The Castlevania Lords of Shadow soundtracks partnership also includes the upcoming album release for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate Original Soundtrack. That album will be available digitally on Oct. 29, followed by a CD release in November. A Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Original Soundtrack will release in the first quarter of 2014.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was originally released in 2010 as a dark re-imagining of the Castlevania mythology. The original score, composed by Oscar Araujo and recorded with the 120-piece Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, received numerous accolades including 2011 ‘Best Original Score for a Video Game or Interactive Media’ from the International Film Music Critics Association.
