Venetica, a new role-playing game (RPG) on the way for PS3 and Xbox 360 owners in North America, will hit store shelves on this side of the pond in January 2011, Atari announced today. The game, set in Venice, is currently available in Germany.
Venetica will also release in North America for Windows PC in January.
Set during the 16th Century in the city of Venice, Venetica takes players through the water-logged city to conquer a host of nightmare creatures using the “Twilight World.” With pick-up-and-play controls, gamers will use 3D map architecture that allows for multi-dimensional gameplay amid the dynamic day and night cycles.
Venetica’s action-RPG gameplay will see players assuming the role of Scarlett, a young woman. In her oh-so-fashionable Venetian boots, players will explore the streets and canals of Venice to rid the city of a dangerous necromancer. Equipped with an arsenal of weapons, Scarlett is the only person who can stop them from destroying the entire living world.
More details will be available soon. In the meantime, you can add Venetica to your watch list over at Amazon.com.
