Activision is showcasing its next-gen Wolfenstein game at E3 2009 this week, and to stoke gamers’ fire for interest in the game, the company has decided to release Wolfenstein 3D on both Xbox 360 and PS3 — this week.
In fact, the Xbxo 360 version of Wolfenstein 3D is available on Xbox Live Arcade today, while the PS3/PlayStation Network version of Wolfenstein 3D will show up tomorrow (Thursday).
No pricing information for either version was immediately available.
Wolfenstein 3D created the FPS genre, so this will be many younger gamers’ first opportunity to escape from Castle Wolfenstein. Classic enemies like Hans Grosse and Mecha-Hitler await players in six episodes spanning 60 levels.
Gamers who defeat the twisted Nazi regime in Wolfenstein 3D will earn accolades and be awarded gold for customizable weapon upgrades in id’s upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 shooter Wolfenstein.
Wolfenstein is scheduled to be in stores August 4 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
