Sega today took the wraps off a new game for the Nintendo Wii, unveiling that the company’s new shooter Ghost Squad will be shipping for the console this holiday season.
Although the name seems to imply Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon squad will be storming the Wii courtesy of Sega, Ghost Squad is in fact being developed by Sega’s AM2 arcade division and is a console version of the popular arcade gun game.
The Wii version brings the arcade experience home while adding several Wii-specific gameplay modes and features. For instance, the Wii Remote will act as a multi-purpose tool that allows players to easily control the targeting of on-screen enemies, defuse bombs and rescue hostages.
With a squad of three others, players will traverse three different mission areas each comprised of multiple levels. As they progress through the levels, each of which has an alternate route, players will unlock 25 high-powered weapons ranging from machine guns, and sniper rifles to shotguns and crossbows.
Ghost Squad will feature an Arcade mode and a multiplayer mode for up to four players.
