Sega today shipped Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo Wii, the first time Sonic and Mario have appeared together in any game.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games allows players to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to simulate the movements used in the actual competitions. On their own or against friends, gamers can take part in 20 official events including Swimming, Long Jump, Hurdles, Table Tennis and Skeet Shooting.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games also offers four unlockable Dream events, which take the sports competitions to video game-inspired worlds complete with power-ups and obstacles from the Mario and Sonic universes. All told, 16 characters from Sonic and Mario (including Luigi, Peach, Shadow and Knuckles) are playable, each with his or her own unique strengths and weaknesses.
Gamers can also bring their own Mii likeness into the game to challenge their favorite hero to an athletic showdown.
