The next PC-chugging game from EA…. Scratch that. The next game in the Crysis series, Crysis Warhead, got an official PC release date today, with Electronic Arts announcing that the game will ship in Europe on Sept. 12 and in North America on Sept. 16.
In addition to the release date, EA today unveiled a pre-order program for Crysis Warhead that’s exclusive to the EA Store by which gamers can order the game for $24.95, $5 less than the full retail price. EA’s online store is also running a special by which gamers can receive $10 off when purchasing both Crysis Warhead and the original Crysis.
In response to many gamers’ inability to actually run the original Crysis due to steep system specs, Crytek’s Cevat Yerli told DailyGame that this second game “has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs.” That should be music to many PC gamers’ ears.
At the same time, Yerli spilled some details about Crysis Wars, a new mode featuring three multiplayer submodes: InstantAction and PowerStruggle, both of which are familiar to Crysis fans, and a new mode called “TeamInstantAction.” This new mode is a new match type that mixes fast-paced action in a team-based environment.
All told, the game will include 21 maps, six new maps for TeamInstantAction and InstantAction, and one for PowerStruggle.
