After a slight delay, 2K Games announced late Sunday that the Evolve alpha on PS4 is now live. The Evolve alpha on PS4 had originally been scheduled to go live earlier this weekend, but problems with the PSN Network kept the game from running properly.
In a statement Sunday night, 2K said “After exploring all available solutions, we believe we have addressed the majority of known issues affecting the Evolve Big Alpha on PlayStation 4 following the PS4 2.0 firmware update. The alpha test is now live on PS4 after a gradual roll out to registered participants.”
To give PS4 owners a decent amount of hands-on time, 2K also extended the dates of the Evolve Xbox One alpha and its PC counterpart. The Evolve closed alpha will now run on Xbox One, PC and PS4 through Tuesday (November 4) at 12:00pm PST (3pm EST).
Though the Evolve alpha on PS4 is now live, 2K cautioned PS4 owners from thinking it will run flawlessly.
“Alpha tests analyze and troubleshoot unfinished products. While internal testing shows the majority of PS4 matches are completed successfully, some players will encounter interruptions and issues affecting the Evolve experience,” 2K said in a statement. “We ask for your patience and participation as we rigorously test Evolve to ensure a successful launch on February 10, 2015.
2K first announced the Evolve PS4 alpha delay on Friday. At the time the company said “following the recent PS4 2.00 firmware update, we are experiencing difficulties with the Evolve Big Alpha on PlayStation 4. As a result, the test on PlayStation 4 is postponed.”
At the time 2K didn’t specify when or whether a solution would be found, only that the studio and Sony “are working together on a resolution.” Fortunately the resolution came sooner rather than later. PS4 owners can start downloading and playing the Evolve alpha on PS4 immediately.
