Koei Announces Bladestorm: Nightmare Release Date for PS4, Xbox One

December 5, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

While Santa works on commanding his elves, Koei Tecmo is hoping PS4 and Xbox One owners will want to command their own troops shortly after the holidays move past. The company today announced the Bladestorm: Nightmare release date as March 3, 2015, for both next-gen platforms. Bladestorm: Nightmare is a troop-command action game.

Though the Bladestorm: Nightmare release date is the same on PS3, that version of the game will only be released digitally. Bladestorm: Nightmare for PS4 and Xbox One will see both a retail disc and a digitally downloadable version.

Bladestorm: Nightmare has players taking the role of a mercenary fighting for either England or France. The game’s missions are inspired by real events and battles from The Hundred Years War, which took place from 1337–1453.

Revisiting one of the longest and most politically unstable periods in European history, the game lets players command different kinds of army units while developing their own unique character, and increasing their fame and in-game fortune.

Bladestorm: Nightmare has two different gameplay modes. The “Normal Mode” is a realistic depiction of the time period, while the “Nightmare Mode” covers a fictional narrative with some fantastical twists. These modes effectively split Bladestorm: Nightmare into two actualities, an historically accurate account of the Hundred Years War and an alternate-reality scenario that unfolds in the same world.

In Nightmare Mode, the war between England and France wages-on as a mysterious horde of outlandish creatures appear to be led by a form of Joan of Arc, who has turned evil. The malevolent army is comprised of numerous types of Dragons, Giants and Demons in infinite numbers and the kingdoms of England and France must momentarily cease fire and join legions to abolish this nefarious force.

This mode allows players to take control of an additional 32 playable characters based both on fictional and prominent historical figures of the time. With their assistance, the player’s character attempt to control the demonic armies, restore Joan of Arc to her former self and save the world from evil.
