Heavenly Sword was one of the most touted games of the PS3 launch lineup, with a marketing schedule that started at E3 that year and went well beyond the then-next-gen console’s launch. Now a new Heavenly Sword movie has been announced, with an all-star voice cast including Anna Torv, Alfred Molina and Thomas Jane.

The Heavenly Sword movie release date is currently slated for Sept. 2. The film will be available in a Blu-ray Combo Pack, a DVD set and via Digital HD. The film will also be available on the Sony PlayStation Network. No big surprise there.

Like the game of the same name, the Heavenly Sword movie centers on Nariko (Torv), a trained warrior with flaring red hair, who gracefully possesses a sought-after blade with incredible powers. As the sword’s guardian, Nariko must face a crazed ruler named King Bohan (Molina) and his unyielding army, who are determined to obtain the powerful sword for their own manipulation.

In addition to the Heavenly Sword movie itself, the Blu-ray and DVD packages will also include bonus footage such as behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast and filmmakers.

The Heavenly Sword movie carries a pretty paltry price, all things considered. It’s Blu-ray version wills et you back just $19.97, and the DVD version costs $14.93. As of this writing you can’t order it from Amazon, but it may show up as Sept. 2 gets ever closer.
