With the September PS Plus lineup starting to wear thin, PS4 and PS3 owners are increasingly on the lookout for information about the PlayStation Plus October 2014 free games list. Sony hasn’t yet revealed the full lineup of free games for PS Plus owners next month, but the company did divulge some great news for PS4 owners.
The PlayStation Plus October 2014 free games list will include three games, not two, for PS4 gamers. It’s unclear whether PS3 and PS Vita PS Plus subscribers will also get three free games.
One of the most high-profile games hitting the PS4 in October is Sony’s open-world racing game DriveClub. After two consecutive months of releasing a free game for PS Plus members on the same day it launched as a paid purchase for non PS Plus members, speculation ran wild that DriveClub could potentially make the PlayStation Plus October 2014 free games list.
Sony has confirmed that it will, though it will do so as a “bonus” free game. DriveClub will not be included in the standard lineup of two free games for PS Plus members.
In a commented posted on the European PlayStation blog, Sony’s Fred Dutton said “Driveclub will be in addition to you regular PS Plus allocation. There’s loads of content included. Do try it out – I think you’ll have a great time with it, and at no additional cost to your wallet.”
While DriveClub is a free PS4 game in October for PS Plus members, non-members will still have to pay. It’s unclear whether DriveClub will be free at launch for PS Plus members, but that’s likely the case. Sony offered a free game on launch day in both August and September for PS Plus subscribers.
While this is official confirmation that DriveClub will be part of the PlayStation Plus October 2014 free games list, Sony hasn’t announced the other PS Plus games for October. However, at least now PS4 owners know they can look forward to three free games next month.
No information has yet leaked about the PS Plus October free games for PS3 or PS Vita. That information will likely release late next week or early the next, when Sony traditionally announces its free games for PS Plus members for the coming month.
