Did somebody order up a dozen Nazi zombies with a side of telekinetic super-soldiers? Must be, because that's what you get with UberSoldier, the latest title in the long list of FPS shooters that have been produced in the past couple of years. While most shooters go the route of being serious endeavors, UberSoldier does its best to be a campy romp through an alternate WWII, and while it succeeds on the action front, some serious hardware bugs, dodgy A.I. issues and absolutely the worst voice acting ever team up to form … [Read more...]

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Reviewing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is by far the largest undertaking in the young 2006 gaming year. With hundreds of hours of gameplay and just as many different paths to take, no one reviewer can give a definitive opinion of the game, at least not this soon after its release. That's why we enlisted the help of three willing victims, also known as DailyGame writers, to tackle our review of the PC version. These writers played at their own speed and chose their own path, and not surprisingly, they each came away … [Read more...]
Beatmania Review
It seems odd that Konami would bother to release Beatmania, a game that's been in arcades for several years now, but release it they did, and they've included a massive controller to mimic the arcade experience. The question is - is Beatmania worth the price of admission with so many other rhythm games out there, especially in an age where Guitar Hero seems to be the known ruler of the genre? As mentioned, Beatmania comes with a massive controller that's supposed to give the player the feeling of being a club DJ while … [Read more...]
007: From Russia with Love
Sony's PSP continues to amaze me with its ability to (mostly) handle console ports with ease. Its beautiful display, for example, proves that games can look not only bright but amazingly crisp even on a three-inch screen, and that handheld games can actually nearly resemble their PS2 counterpart. The hardware's missing one key ingredient, though, and for console ports it's an important one: a second analog stick. I'm hardly the first person to point this out. Nor is EA's newest PSP game, 007: From Russia with Love, the … [Read more...]
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Review
Ubisoft has really been on the ball as of late, especially with regards to the Xbox 360 with the smash hit that is Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. It's with Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII that they hope to continue excellent sales and prove that they are on top of their game. Released simultaneously on the Xbox, PC and Xbox 360, Blazing Angels, does, however, show some obvious signs of cross-platform development such as weak texture use and some other graphical issues. The first thing worth mentioning is that … [Read more...]
Outpost Kaloki X
One of the most entertaining new features of Microsoft's next-gen console is the Xbox Live Arcade. From retro coin-op games like Joust and Gauntlet to Bizarre Creation's follow-up to their PGR2 easter egg, Geometry Wars, these games create a nice diversion from the demanding rigors of the standard console shooters and racers. A few of the games offered are true originals, games that were created strictly for the Live Arcade. One of the most creative and humorous comes in the form of NinjaBee's Outpost Kaloki X, a space … [Read more...]
Chibi-Robo
Every once in a while you buy a game and expect little from it. You buy the game mostly on a whim, not knowing much about it, but it looks interesting and your money is burning a hole in your pocket, so you give it a try. You ease into your well-worn gaming chair, and while the game loads you worry and wonder "Did I waste my money? Should I have rented this one? I hope this is good." And then, before you know it, something unbelievable happens. Could it be true? The game you just plunked down $55 for, that you knew … [Read more...]
Nintendo Revolution: New Insight on the Controller
With just three weeks before the official start of E3, it's pretty much an understatement to say you could cut through the anticipation with a rusty spoon. With two new consoles, the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Revolution, set to make their first public appearance, and with Microsoft planning to show second-generation Xbox 360 games, the stage is set for E3 2006 to be one of the most hype-filled, intriguing shows of the past six years. Yet regardless of the system you most ardently support, it's hard to deny that … [Read more...]
The Godfather The Game
Any review of The Godfather The Game would be remiss if it didn't mention Grand Theft Auto 3. The king of all sandbox games has inspired many "me too" games of late, The Gofather being one of the few that's actually a suitable substitute for Rockstar's controversial series. It certainly isn't suitable in the family-friendly sense; like GTA3, it takes place in an F-bomb-dropping, whore-slapping, violent world. Rather, it's suitable in the sense that its open-ended structure, carjacking concept, "heat" levels with police … [Read more...]
Rumble Roses XX
Konami turned heads for most of the wrong reasons on the PS2 with the release of Rumble Roses, a wrestling game which featured scantily clad women who'd perform moves that varied in degrees of raciness. They even went as far as including a mud wrestling option for the discerning players who like their ladies covered in simulated muck. Cue the next generation of video games and a whole new era of high definition gaming. What better way to show off the power of a system than with a game that offers a great … [Read more...]
