The Boys Are Back
tells the moving tale of a wisecracking sportswriter whose wife dies suddenly, leaving him all alone to raise a curious six year-old and a rebellious teen from a previous marriage. Devoid of a feminine influence, the household runs full throttle through a few hard lessons — mostly on the part of the father, played by Clive Owen.
With an exuberance born of necessity, Owen’s character teaches his boys to meet the joy and fragility of life head on. The result is a film that chronicles the fierce love and loyalty the three males discover for each other as they make their way through the trials of everyday life.
