Berlin, Germany – aBit Games announced Money Witches for iPhone/iPad last month. Here comes the first gameplay teaser for this coin themed block puzzle game.
Although the ultimate goal of Money Witches is to create engaging multiplayer combat gameplay that can be enjoyed by a large amount of action puzzle game fans, aBit Games still needs to nail the single player gameplay first. The video shows the fundamental gameplay mechanics: player stacks a certain type of coins to exchange them into a more valuable coin. The newly created coin will drop down and if it lands on coins with the same value, there will be chained exchange and player can keep this going on and on by dragging coins around properly during the exchange. The more exchange player can chain together, the more combo score he will get.
Another interesting gameplay twist is how coins have different value and the number of coins requires for an exchange is different. To get an easy combo player doesn’t have to pile up 5 coins and grab another 4, instead after he got five 1 Cent coins exchanging, all he need is a 5 Cent to keep it going.
In the video a game mode called “Infinite” is played. It’s a kind of survival mode that player will get more and more incoming coins which will filled up the board and end the game eventually. But there will be no incoming coins when player has a combo going. The higher level player gets in the Infinite mode, the more score he will get from each exchanging. More game mode is in the making and aBit Games developers are sure that everyone can find his favorite game mode in Money Witches.
It’s worth mentioning that the game is developed in Unity. And the team developed a 2D sprite rendering plugin called ex2D for the high quality, dynamic 2D graphics. ex2D is now one of the most popular 2D sprite engine for Unity due to its simplicity and affordable price.
Money Witches will be available on Appstore this summer. It will be a universal app for both iPhone and iPad, though the iPad version will have exclusive two player mode. Bluetooth and Wifi based versus mode will be available for both iPhone and iPad in the future updates.

aBit Games is an indie game development team founded on July, 2010. The three guys from China decided to work together as a remote team to make the game they really enjoy playing during spare time. All of the team members also work full time in the game industry for companies like Ubisoft and Yager Development. Since two members of the team live in China while the other one lives in Germany, they also need to deal with time difference and Chinese GFW on a daily basis. The team managed to overcome all the troubles and released their first game on iOS: Super Sheep Tap. It’s a pretty innovative action rhythm game that sets the base of the style of their games: Cute theme, easy to pick up by everyone, but extremely challenging when player wants to get better score. Super Sheep Tap is awarded with “Excellence in Audio” in 2011 Independent Games Festival China for its innovative rhythm gameplay and nice sound design. Copyright (C) 2012 aBit Games.
