Joao Pessoa, PB, Brazil – Brazilian company Fuze.cc is pleased to announce the 2.0 version of the iOS game The Fish Dies in the End, an undersea, pick up and play game featuring a cute little fish trying to survive as long as possible. The game has been downloaded more than 70.000 times worldwide in its previous incarnations and is now re-released with many improvements based on players’ suggestions. The basic gameplay is as follows: the fish remains in the same horizontal position, near the left edge of the screen, and as he swims all manner of sea denizens pass from right to left. Predators are avoided by controlling his buoyancy: touch the screen and he rises, release and he descends. The fish has three lives during each round of gameplay, and the game features 3 levels of difficulty.
The underwater environment of the game is vibrant, with a dynamic background, filled with constantly moving shafts of sunlight from the surface, fragile air bubbles rising at different rates, rock formations, and schools of fish in the background. The old nemeses are all back, and include carnivorous sea plants, starfish, sea urchins, piranhas, jellyfish, rays, and jaw-snapping sharks. The mighty sharks are special, ferocious enemies and will appear constantly to try and kill the fish. The new version also introduces new enemies and obstacles, like seasnakes and harpoons that should make the game even more diverse and fun. The game is endless, and continues until the fish dies, having used all three lives (turning pearlescent, haloed, and rising heavenward). Screens are generated randomly, so no two games are ever the same.
With the new version, the game has been made permanently free-to-play, and includes many new features. One of them is the in-game Store, where the player will be able to purchase various cosmetic changes and helpful utilities. These include Themes (Reggae, Emo, and Pirate), which change the appearance of enemies and the music that is played during shark attacks; Styles (Female Fish, Mohawk Hairstyle, Black Power Hairstyle, Pompadour Hairstyle, Dreadlocks, Long Hair), to change the visuals of the fish; Power-ups, which are intended to help the fish survive longer and bring even more variety to the gameplay. The power-ups available at the store are: Extra Heart, which adds one extra heart to the fish at the start of the game; Weapon, that allows the fish to shoot once every 10 seconds, killing enemies ahead; Gold Helmet, allowing the fish to be hit twice without losing a heart and Resurrection; which allows the player to resurrect the fish once after dying.
All of the items at the Store can be purchased with Pearls, which are collected in-game by the player. There are also packs of Pearls available via in-app purchase, starting at $0.99, for players that wish to test the new additions right away.
The Fish Dies in the End has three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, and Hard. The Easy level provides a relaxed pace of play, and there are no sharks with which to contend. The Medium level adds sharks and additional predators, while the Hard level increases the number of sharks and the speed of all predators. Players that choose to play at harder levels will be rewarded with more points and pearls. The game features a comprehensive personal statistics page which includes many interesting numbers: High Score, Times Played, Average Score, Last Score, Shark Attacks Survived, Enemies Killed, and Power-Ups Found. There is also a Tutorial screen to help new players understand the game. Game Center is included with Leaderboards for each difficulty level and more than two dozen achievements.
